Start paying attention to the thoughts that go through your mind. Are they for the most part positive? Or are they leaning more towards the negative? If your thoughts were spoken out loud from another person, would you want this person to be your friend? When I did this exercise some time back, I was shocked. There was NO WAY I would want this person in my life! I wouldn't accept it. So If I wouldn't accept that friend, why was I willing to accept those thoughts? Once I realized this I made some serious changes to what I allowed myself to say.
